I graduated from Plymouth University in 2011 with a first-class degree in Dance Theatre. Continuing with my studies I was awarded a Certificate in Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Dance research.
I was lucky enough to be mentored by pioneers of inclusive dance Adam Benjamin, Sue Smith and CandoCo Dance Company through my training and throughout my professional career. On graduation, I formed Exim Dance Company where for 5 years I was Artistic Director. During this time I toured nationally as a performer, commissioned choreographers and finally choreographed work which is still touring the UK now.
In addition to my work with Exim I has worked internationally as an inclusive practitioner with companies such as CandoCo and Concuerpos (Colombia) and Jurg Koch (Seattle).
Claire’s class has a strong focus on structured improvisation using gentle layering to form individual technique exercises. With a strong sense of fun and playful energy Claire will hold the studio space for each individual to explore the full potential of their movement vocabulary.
